A. George Best II. Brant, Michigan Passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at St. Mary's of Michigan. Age 61 years. The son of the late Jean (Devaux) and Arnold George Best I. was born October 20, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. He married Mary Jane Kennedy, February 9, 1980. She passed away August 20, 2002. George was a graduate of the University of Michigan in Political Science and he received his Juris Doctor degree from the Detroit College of Law. He was employed in the Wayne County Prosecutor's office; the U.S. Attorney's Office, U.S. Department of Justice; served as a Circuit court Judge, Detroit Recorder's Court; and presently as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with the Saginaw County Prosecutor's office. He received many awards and commendations including, Michigan State Police Appreciation for recognition for efforts in curtailment of narcotics trafficking in Wayne County; DRANO George Best "Hawk" Criminal Investigation Section; Saginaw Police Unselfish Dedication award, 1994; Saginaw Township Police Meritorious Service, 5/2007; Civilian Citation, Saginaw County Sheriff's Department, 5/2008; Commendation Award, Saginaw Police Department, 5/2011. He attended the Shield of Faith and Hopevale churches. He was the definition of patriotic, had a love of eagles and will soar forever on eagle's wings. Surviving is a daughter, Sara Marie Best, his pride and joy; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charlene Vigliotti; Walter and Samantha Kennedy; Cathy and Robert Kelly; Khaled Safadi; Connie and Daniel Aronson; John and Susanne Kennedy; several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Kennedy and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Safadi. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Hopevale Church, 4873 N. Center Rd. at Tittabawassee Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Weldon Townsend will officiate with burial in Brant Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the W. L. Case and Co.
