Adam Schafer Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the Cartwright Care Center. Age 92 years. The son of the late George and Katherine (Kerbel) Schafer was born October 4, 1921 in Clifford, Michigan. He married Mary Hinman, April 12, 1958. She survives him. Adams served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of V.F.W. Post 1566 and American Legion Post # 439. He was employed by Eaton MFG Corp for 42 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus #593; The Brothers of Kosciuszko; and the L.O.O.M #82. Adam was an avid bowler and golfer, known as "the Pro". Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are a brother and his wife, Harold and Madeline Schafer, Saginaw, MI; many nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers, Lydia Ebel, Jacob Schafer, Hannah Terry and David Schafer have predeceased him. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church 4735 West Michigan Ave. Saginaw. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate with Military entombment in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1566. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may then call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the funeral service.
