Adelaide Barbara Hill

Adelaide Barbara Hill entered this world on the afternoon of October 17, 2010. The very next day her parents, Daniel and Jessica Hill, faithfully secured her rebirth in Christ through the sacrament of Holy Baptism. In the early hours of January 22, 2025, following a brief but aggressive illness, the Good Shepherd lifted Addie up in his arms and carried her home to heaven.

Addie grew to know and trust her Good Shepherd, Jesus, both at home and as a student at St. Paul's Lutheran elementary school in Saginaw. Throughout her years there, God led Addie to employ her grace-given talents with energy and enthusiasm. In the classroom or the choir and band room, in the arts or in athletics, Addie was known for her hard work, her ready humor, and her loyalty and support for her classmates and teammates.

Addie reveled in brightening each room she entered, in loving and in being loved. She found joy and satisfaction in all her activities but she was most thankful that God let her do so along with her many friends.

With her family, Addie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saginaw where she anticipated being confirmed this spring. As her confirmation verse, Addie chose the hopeful words of Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you peace, not disaster, plans to give you hope and a future. The future God had planned for Addie, though unexpected, is more wonderful than anyone might have foreseen, for God is allowing her to walk beside her Savior in the peace and joy of her heavenly home.

Addie remains held in the hearts of her parents; her dearly-loved big brother, Silas; her grandparents, Clay and Jeanie Hill and Marcus and Barbara Manthey; her uncle and aunt, Andrew and Anna Hill; her godparents, Mollie Priebe and Pastor Stephen Kuehl; and many other extended family members and friends.

In recent days, Addie was eagerly looking forward to joining her brother at Michigan Lutheran Seminary and she actively encouraged her classmates and friends to do the same. Recalling these efforts, her family has established a memorial fund that will be used to recognize and assist students of St. Paul's school who continue their Christian education at MLS and will consider using God's gifts to them in serving his Church. The family suggests that those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy may consider addressing a memorial gift to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, designating it for the Addie Hill Memorial.

A worship service of victory in Christ for Adelaide Hill will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Court and Bond Streets in Saginaw. Pastor David C. Naumann will officiate. Family visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, there are plans to live-stream the service at www.youtube.com/@StPaulsSaginaw and to archive the video on the St. Paul's Youtube channel.  Arrangements entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors.  Please share memories of Adelaide and words of condolence at www.casefuneralhome.com

The Hill and Manthey families wish to express special thanks to the medical personnel of Covenant Emergency Care in Saginaw and of Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor for their sensitive and caring services. Deepest gratitude, as well, for the countless expressions of sympathy, support, generosity, and prayers received from the family of believers.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful ones.

I will sacrifice a thank offering to you, O Lord, and call upon your name ...in the presence of all his people, in the courts of his holy house.

Praise the LORD.

[ Psalm 116:15,17-19 ]
