Adelaide M. Reitz

Adelaide M. Reitz Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, age 100 years. She was born on August 24, 1916, daughter of the late Philip and Jenny (Wachalac) Reitz, in Merrill. She attended Sacred Heart schools and graduated as valedictorian in 1934. Adelaide retired from the U. S. Post Office as a Postmaster after 37 years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Merrill and served her church as an organist for nearly 50 years. Throughout her life she enjoyed baking, canning, gardening and cross stitching. Until recently she lived on the family centennial farm. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Reitz of Midland; many loving nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Philip (Tommy), Raymond and John, sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis (Vincent) Rogers and Bernice (Bruce) McKibbin. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Edgewood Assisted Living. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 419 S. Midland, Merrill. Fr. Dennis J. Kucharczyk will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
