Strasel, Alan James Merrill, MI Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. The son of the late Leo and Dorothy (Gilles) Strasel was born on May 15, 1930 in Saginaw. He married Ada V. Shepherd on November 3, 1951; she survives him. Alan retired from Delco-Moraine Div. after over 25 years of service. He also farmed in the Merrill area. Alan was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #2291. He enjoyed camping and gardening. Surviving besides his wife of 66 years, Ada, are their children: James Strasel, Paul Strasel, Nancy (John) Drummond, Steven (Lisa) Strasel, Lee (Amy) Strasel, Lisa (Paul) Muller, his son-in-law, Dave Nobles, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, three sisters: JoEllen Wolf, Carol (Tom) Kirkconnel, Deann Purcell, 8 brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Alan was predeceased by his daughter Jeanette Nobles, two sons: John and Dean Strasel and a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Merrill. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L.
