Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017. Born Albert Kehren Mooney in Saginaw, Michigan on November 24, 1935 to the late Robert H. and Regina (Kehren) Mooney. He was married to Jennett Spence on August 5, 1960, and she survives him. He graduated from St. Andrews High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from University of Michigan. Al enjoyed a life long career with General Motors including serving as Plant Manager and Site Operations Manager in Alabama retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Saginaw Country Club, and Honest John Club. Al had a big personality with a great sense of humor. He relished engaging with others, whether it was a friendly greeting or a lively conversation around the state of the world. He particularly enjoyed playing bridge, following the news, and maintaining a well manicured lawn. He was passionate about spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed. In addition to his spouse, Al leaves to cherish his memory, five children: Albert K. Mooney, Jr., Anne Mooney, Jane (Lee) Sotos, Barbara Mooney, and Jen (David) Haskell; his special niece and nephew, Regina Wootton and George Bruske; nine grandchildren, Kelly, Robert, and Bridget Mooney, Erica and Julia Sotos, Sarah and Katie Haskell, and Jenn and Sarah Mooney; sister Jane Ryan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, who brought him joy and made him feel special. His brother, Robert H. Mooney, and his sister, Irene Bruske predeceased Al. A celebration of Al's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen's Church 2711 Mackinaw, Saginaw with burial at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Friends wishing to visit with the family may do so on Friday, at the W.L. Case Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. The family prefers that those who wish may contribute to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or a charity of choice.
