Alberto "Al" "Beto" Rivera of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital. He was 76 years old. Alberto Rivera was born on December 1, 1945, in Crystal City, Texas to the late Silvestre and Reynalda (Torres) Rivera. He moved to Saginaw at 13 years old Al's love story began when he met the love of his life, Esther Gonzalez, while at a dance. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 7, 1964; she survives him. He worked at General Motors in various capacities, retiring in 2008 as a machine repairman after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Al was a food connoisseur and loved cooking, especially grilling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending social gatherings, often became the life of the party. Al also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and true to nature he was a very lucky person. He held a special bond with his chihuahua, Caesar. He will forever be remembered for being a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, having an excellent sense of humor, and for his wise and intellectual advice.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Esther Rivera of Saginaw; three daughters and two sons: Sandra (John) Chiang of Houston; Albert (Pat) Rivera of Carrollton; Johnny Rivera of Saginaw; Kimberly Faber-Rivera of Carrollton; Christina Newman of Carrollton; seven grandchildren: Samantha, Robert, Anthony, Nicholas, Michael (Dallas), Hayley, and Soona; two great-grandson: Ashton and Eli; siblings: Alice Reyes, Rudy (Shelly) Rivera, Maryann (Joe) Silva, Sylvia Arizo, Ray (Sally) Rivera, and Gloria (Alex) Arizo; step-brother: Silvestre Rivera Jr. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Daniel Newman; brother, Luis Rivera; sister, Olga Sanchez; two brother-in-law, Joe Reyes; Mariano Arizo.
