Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, 3rd- great-grandfather, 4th - great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 92. The son of the late Trancito and Felicitas (Perez) Vargas was born on April 7, 1928 in Dolores, TX. Alberto married the love of his life Pauline Jimenez on August 27,1955; she predeceased him on April 7, 2003. Alberto was a member of St. Joseph Parish.
Alberto is survived by his children: Lucia (Jesse) Jimenez, Rosemary (Marcelo) Juarez, Alicia Varney, Enrique (Emily) Olivarez, Ricardo (Consuelo) Olivarez, Felicitas Vargas, Alejandra Vargas, Alberto Vargas Jr., Pauline (Lawrence) Najera, and Miquel Vargas; 46 grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters: Nena Bustos, Manuela Chavarria, and Alicia (Ramon) Castillo; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law: George and Jesse Jimenez; sisters-in-law: Judy Arroyo Green, Adele Sanchez, Rosalinda Merino, Margaret Quiroz; a special sister-in-law, Rosa Castillo and special son, Van Robinson.
He was predeceased by son, Rudolph Vargas; his son-in-law Cleve Varney, his grandsons: Thomas Newvine, Rudy Anthony ‘’Punky” Vargas; granddaughter, Dominga Gonzales; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Jose Bustos, Alberto & Dolores Jimenez, Louie & Matilda Jimenez Sr, Ralph & Helen Barrera, and Mary Lou Ramirez.
Alberto worked at Malleable Iron Plant for over 20 years and during that time he started a family business, Vargas & Son Tortilla Factory Inc., which has been in business for over 50 years. Alberto’s hard work and dedication made Vargas & Son Tortilla Factory Inc. a success. Leaving this legacy for his children was one of his proudest accomplishments. He loved interacting with his customers, telling his jokes, life stories and enjoyed being on outings with his family. He was past President of La Union Civica Mexicana. Alberto loved his culture especially his music, dancing and being with his friends Ernie Banda, Andres Delacruz and Lupe Zamora. His famous words “Where’s the tequila”?

A private family Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFM Cap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening led by Joe Trevino. Due to restrictions set forth by the State of Michigan and the worldwide health pandemic, all visitors are required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
