Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home in Bay City, Michigan, where he wanted to be with his family by his side. He was born October, 13, 1944 in Larnaca, Cyprus, one of eight children of Neophytos and Eleftheris Demosthenous. Alexandros (Alex) was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hardworking man who put his family, faith and culture first. He enjoyed having family and friends get together. He owned many restaurants, Howard Johnsons and Nikos Family Diner both in Bay City. Being a restaurant owner he has made many good friends along the way. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maroulla Neophytou; two children, Chrysanthi Neophytou and granddaughter, Marianna; his son, Neophytos Neophytou and his wife, Eva, and grandchildren, Alexander, Stavros and Adele; a sister-in-law, Maria Demosthenous (Vasili Kosma); five sisters, Lula, Demitra, Stavroulla (Vassous), Andigoni (Yiannakis), Evanthia; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers, Mario Demosthenou and Demo Demosthenou. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Fr. Timothy Cook will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday where the Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Fr. Timothy Cook.
