Our beloved and cherished father and grandfather, Alfred Benjamin Pococke, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 after a brief illness. Age 86 years.
Alfred, who preferred to be called Ben, was born on October 28, 1935, son of the late James Gordon and Emma Josephine (Duquette) Pococke, in Saginaw. His trade as a carpenter, and builder led him to establish his own business, Pococke Masonry. Ben also worked at General Motors in Saginaw, AC Delco in Flint and retired with more than 40 years of service. Ben was a great lover of all things fishing on his pontoon, The Whatashi. He loved to be on the water, whether it was fishing or just taking a leisurely cruise on the bay. He was an avid woodworker creating heirlooms for his family. He was always there to lend an ear or helping hand where needed. Ben loved his children and grandchildren with a fierceness matched by none. He would do anything for family.
Ben is survived by his three children, Paul (Missy) Pococke, Shaune Cornwell (Jason Emeott) and Vanessa Salogar; grandchildren, PJ, Kayla, Ben Jenna, Jason Jr., Joshua and Zander, great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Josie and Jason III; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were, brothers and sisters, Alice Loretta, James Gordon Jr., John Duane (Jack), Avis Lorraine and Donald Arthur (Bitsy).
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17. 2021, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Pastor Robert Tibbits will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it was Ben's wish that you enjoy a beer sometime in his honor or a donation to your favorite charity in his name.
