Alice Frances Cook of Thomas Township, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her home. She was 94 years old. Alice Frances Frappart was born on January 22, 1927, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Klebear and Katherine (Mattes) Frappart. She was a proud graduate of Ss. Peter & Paul High School. She married the love of her life, Earl C. Cook on May 4, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, he preceded her in death on July 1, 1994. Alice was a faithful and devoted member of St. Dominic Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW Post #9809. Alice was a wonderful seamstress, creating baptism gowns, prom dresses, drapery and afghans over the years. Following the death of her beloved Earl, Alice and her friends discovered a passion for country line dancing. They created the “Shields Strutters” and brought the gift of dance to numerous nursing homes throughout the Saginaw community. Above all, she loved and cherished her family. Alice will forever be remembered for her kind, sweet, and loving soul.
Surviving are four sons and a daughter: Gary (Sabine) Cook Taos, NM; Michael Cook of Hemlock; Mary Ann Salwasser of Thomas Township; David (Diana) Cook of St. John’s Island, SC; Darryl Cook of Thomas Township; a very special friend, Roy Pine of Thomas Township; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Bower of GA; daughter-in-law, Penny Cook of Merrill; brother-in-law, Richard Preston of Prescott. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons: James (Christine) Cook and Randall Cook; four sisters: Marie (Dewey) Holly, Dorothy (Lee) Droomer, Kay Preston, and Roberta Wood; and an infant brother.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday on March 24, 2021, at St. Dominic Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 2:00 p.m. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, masks are required, indoor capacity is limited to 25 people at time, and social distancing is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish.
