Allan Clarence "Al" Leyrer Herron, MI. Formerly of Saginaw Age 77 years. Passed away while surrounded by his family was taken home to be with the Lord on this Good Friday, April 14, 2017. Son of the late Orville and Bernice (Davy) Leyrer, Allan was born on December 6th, 1939 in Saginaw, MI. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1957. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army for several years before settling back in Saginaw. He married Rose Kionka and together raised four children. Al worked (for over 30 years) at General Motors as a Machine Repair Machinist until his retirement. He was an avid woodworker, hobbyist pilot, motorcyclist, and jack of all trades. Allan is survived by his children and their spouses Scott Leyrer, Albuquerque, NM, Daniel (Brandi) Leyrer, Saginaw, MI, David (Dana) Leyrer, Wauwatosa, WI, and Christine (Dallas) Cecil, Aldie, VA; brothers Willard Leyrer and Dean Leyrer; sisters Rhoda Smith, Joyce Peterson, Pat Hartnagle and Kay (John) Healy; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al is predeceased by several siblings, Leonard Paquette, Bob Smith, Jack Leyrer, Maurice Leyrer, Carol Luedtke and Bonnie (Goodwin) Ostrander. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, with Rev. David Naumann, of St. Paul's Lutheran, officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service with remains being laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at Case Funeral Home on 5:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be given to the MLS Foundation.
