Boelter, Allen H. Bridgeport, Michigan Our loving father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare, age 93 years. Allen was born in March 27, 1921 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan the son of the late Adolph and Augusta (Schmidt) Boelter. He married Margaret Boyd June 18, 1950. She predeceased him January 15, 1998. Allen was a loyal and hard-working member of Bridgeport Community Church. He graduated from Michigan Tech's engineering program. He entered officer's training and attained the rank of Captain in the Army Corps Engineers serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He came home and began a 42 year career in the Forestry Service in Michigan, spending the second half of his career in Lansing. He owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in Bridgeport for many years and often helped people with questions concerning their trees. He enjoyed presenting travelogues to various civic groups showing slides and pictures of his travels around the world. Allen was also very active in various Bridgeport Township Civic groups. Allen is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Allen B. and Karen D.H. Boelter, Venice, California; two granddaughters, Margaret and Alana Boelter; four nieces and nephews, Rodney, Sherrill, Randy and Joyce. He was predeceased by a brother, Franklin and a sister, Voris and her husband, Cleatis. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St., Bridgeport. Rev. Ronald Sinclair will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military services conducted under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 5700 Dixie Highway Wednesday from 2:00 8:00 p.m. and at church Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
