Allen John Schmidt, Sr. of Bridgeport, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Howell, Michigan on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was 90 years old. Allen John Schmidt, Sr. was born on July 7, 1934, in Tawas City, Michigan, to the late Joseph P. and Rose A. (Robinson) Schmidt. He married the love of his life, Lois J. Frank, on November 28, 1953, in Tawas City, Michigan; she preceded him in death on June 4, 2003. Allen worked as a Truck Driver most of his adult life and was a proud Teamsters member, retiring in 1996 after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Hardworking his entire life, upon retirement, he began working for another 21 years with Larry’s Auto Supply on E. Genesee where he delivered automotive parts throughout the area. A family man at heart, he and Lois would often travel with their children. Allen was raised in the Catholic faith, enjoyed hunting, and collected pennies wherever he went.

Surviving are seven children: Allen J. Schmidt Jr. of Spring Hill, FL; Rhonda R. Weiss of Frankenmuth; Andrew J. (Cindy) Schmidt of Saginaw; Tammie M. (Jim) Henne of Saginaw; Mark S. (Darlene) Schmidt of Saginaw; Scott A. Schmidt of Howell; Dennis L. Schmidt of Howell. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends too numerous to mention but loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois J. Schmidt; daughter, Sandra J. Evans; two grandsons, Jonathan Schmidt and Wayne A. Evans Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Warian. 

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
