Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital, with his family at his side; at the age of 87 years.
The son of the late Omer and Mary (Wykrentek) Nass, Al was born on December 29, 1935, in Bridgeport, Michigan. He graduated from Hemlock High School. Al proudly served in the United States Army until he was Honorable Discharged. He married Joyce Neuenfeldt on September 21, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock, Michigan; she survives him. Al was a supervisor at Hemlock Semiconductor, Dow Corning, retiring on October 22, 1996 after 40 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Al enjoyed going out on his boat, fishing, and tinkering with projects in his barn. Above all, Al cherished the time with his family and loved ones.
Surviving besides his wife, Joyce Nass; are their two daughters: Christine Nass (Jason Gehrenger), Cathleen (Mark) Parsons; daughter-in-law: Tracy Taylor; grandchildren: Sydney Parsons (fiancé Connor Meylan), Brian Nass, Emily Nass; and sister: Patricia Simon. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Besides his parents, Al is preceded in death by his son: Gregory Nass; his sisters and brother: Mary Jo Roberts, Thomas Nass, and Nancy Swanson.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Marys Drive, Hemlock, Michigan 48626. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate. Rite of Committal and Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post 7302 at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass on Thursday at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church.
