Angelita Melcher

Melcher, Angelita (ne Gonzalez) Saginaw, MI Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt died on September 29, 2019 at her home, following a lengthy illness, age 75 years. The daughter of the late Gumecindo and Guadalupe (Herrera) Gonzalez was born on July 27, 1944, in Pigeon, MI. She married Bradley Melcher on December 2, 1967 in Saginaw, he survives her. Angie worked for the City of Saginaw for several years and then for another 37 years for the County Court system and Circuit Court Referee Office from its inception until her retirement in 2008. Mom was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Saginaw. She could often be found supporting her childrens activities at SS Peter & Paul School, Nouvel High School, and Carrollton High School. If there was a family event, she was there, and tried never to miss a graduation, birthday party, or wedding. In the 1970s, you could find Mom competing in karate competitions with Dad, bowling with her league, helping out at the Channel 19 auction, or at the MDA Labor Day Telethon. When at home, she loved to tend to the tulips and daffodils in her garden, read Louis LAmour books, watch Doc Martin, Blue Bloods, and older police dramas such as Columbo and McCloud. Surviving besides her husband of 51 years are their three sons, Andrejs (Delia), Chicago; Kurt and Karl, both of Saginaw, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, as well as her siblings, Carlos (Marilu), Marie Inez Coulter, Alberto (Carol), Refujia "Fuji" (Robert) Baszler, and Gumecindo "Junior" (Theresa). She was predeceased by her brother, Hilario Gonzalez, her granddaughter, Andriana Melcher, two nephews, Christopher Gonzalez and Winston Melcher, and her former sister-in-law Ann (Ewald-Brandt) Mell. The courage and determination with which Mom faced cancer for over nine years was an uplifting example of Redemptive Suffering in union with our Lord and a great inspiration to her family, friends, and fellow cancer patients. The family would like to extend extra appreciation to John Bartnik MD and the staff of Oncology & Hematology Associates and Covenant VNA Hospice. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00am, Friday October 4, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Ron Wagner will celebrate with Deacon Roger Pasionek. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Case Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw on Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00pm, where a parish Vigil service will be held at 7pm.
