Anna Belle Seymour

Anna Belle Seymour of Saginaw, Michigan Anna Belle Seymour, 95 years, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at her home with her family close by. She was born on April 28, 1924, on a farm in Ithaca, Michigan, daughter of the late Pearl M. (Walter) and Clifford S. Cowdrey. Following graduation in 1942 from Ithaca High School, she became engaged to Thomas Seymour and moved to Saginaw where she worked at Lufkin Rule while awaiting his return from the Pacific during WWII. The couple married there on March 9, 1946, at St. Andrew Catholic Church celebrating 60 years of marriage before his death in 2006. They raised three children: Dianne Sue, Russell William and Richard Carl Seymour, and were charter member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. In their retirement years they enjoyed summers at their Tee Lake cottage, silver-smithing and painting, traveling and exhibiting their works of art in craft shows around the state. A prolific artist, Anna Belle has shared her love of beauty through her paintings with art lovers in the Bay, Midland, and Saginaw area for more than 50 years. She and her work are well known, respected, and much loved. Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections. She was a longstanding member of the Saginaw Artists Guild, the Saginaw Museum and Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists group (SAWA). Until recently, she exhibited her work earning recognition in many area shows. She is survived by one daughter, two sons and their spouses: Dianne and Scott Solesby of Norton Shores; Russell and Sue Seymour of Alanson; Richard Seymour and Jill Seegmiller of Saginaw; four grandchildren and their spouses: Stacey and Andrew Sheffield of Grand Ledge; Ryan and Melissa Solesby of Spring Lake; Aaron and Hilary Seymour of Wolverine; Melanie and Matt Stanton of Woodbridge, VA; nine great-grandchildren: Cassie and Dalton Kenner, Dylan and Emilie Solesby, Wyatt, Thomas, Andrew, and Niklas Stanton, River Seymour; two great-great-granddaughters, Dakota and Aerys; one sister, Marie Thayer of Desert Hot Springs, CA. The family is most grateful to the nurses and staff at Covenant VNA Hospice for their most loving care and attention. In addition, they extend a special thanks to Anna Belles many devoted friends especially Deanna Bergman, Stacie Rose, Marguerite Bronson, and fellow SAWA artists. A funeral service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Covenant VNA Hospice or the Saginaw Art Museum.
