Went home to be with the Lord, peacefully, in the comfort of his home, on Sunday, March 10, 2019. He was 85 years old. Apolinar Gomez was born on January 8, 1934 in Cuero, Texas to the late Carmen and Josepha (Gonzalez) Gomez. He married the love of his life, Emma Flores on June 19, 1954; she survives him. Apolinar was employed as a laborer for General Motors - Grey Iron, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was also an ordained Pastor within the Apostolic Church. Apolinar enjoyed playing the guitar as well as gardening. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling. Above all, he loved and cherished his family.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Emma Gomez of Saginaw; four daughters and a son, Lucia (Juan) Cavazos; Maria (Philip) Kent; Josepha Gomez; John Gomez; and Tammy (Paul) Chernow; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; five brothers; and a sister. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Bridgeport.
