Archie Dale Shebester

Archie Shebester, age 75, of Gladwin, Michigan passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer. Archie was born March 15, 1947, to Charles and Beulah (Ludwick) Shebester. He was raised in Merrill, graduating with the class of 1965. He went on to serve three detachments during the Vietnam War between 1966-1969, serving with the Navy Reconnaissance Squadron VQ-1 . He married Marlene Doan on March 20, 1971. Together they had three children Bradly, Christopher, and Belle. Archie worked for General Motors at Grey Iron Foundry for over 25 years.

Archie was a lifelong outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He was proud of his sauerkraut and was recently excited to learn to prepare sausage. Archie was a proud veteran belonging to the Breckenridge American Legion Post 295 and was a lifetime member of both the Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post 7302 and the Disabled Veterans of America.

Archie is survived by his wife, Marlene, and his children Brad (Allison) Shebester, Chris (Rebecca) Shebester, and Belle (Andrew) Bodell, as well as grandchildren Quinn, Gavin, Justice, Deegan, Charlotte, Kalvin, Amelia, and Daisy; and siblings Dolores Judge, Charles Shebester, Thomas Shebester, and Richard Shebester. He is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Nancy Smith, Phyllis Daymon, and Joann Shebester, and granddaughter Grace Shebester.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 7^th, 2023, at W.L. Case & Co., 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, with Rev. Rob Richards presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Compassus Hospice Care, the Breckenridge American Legion Post 295, or the Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post 7302.
