Arland Daniel Blakely

Passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Covenant Cooper. Age 94 years.
The son of the late Thomas and Mary Blakely (Fealko), Arland was born June 27, 1929 in Saginaw Michigan. He was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School. Arland served his country with the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He married the love of his life, Gloria Mae Fox, on June 11, 1952. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2022. Arland’s first job was a bowling pin setter which began his love of bowling. He achieved a 300 game and won many tournaments. Arland would go on to be inducted into the Saginaw Bowlers Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and achieved two hole-in-ones at the ages of 80 and 83. Arland loved fishing, hunting, softball and spending time with his family. He gave 46 years of dedicated and loyal service to Saginaw Steering Gear, before retiring in 1995. Arland was a member of UAW Local 699 and Saginaw Moose Club.
Surviving are four children: Terri (John) Freeman, Daniel (Jaye) Blakely, Arland Blakely, Doris Lasich; eight grandchildren: Jessica Freeman, Amanda (Nate) Ferrier, Randy (Megan) Borregard, Cathy Borregard, Caitlin and Christopher Lasich, Rebecca Blakely and Jeanne Blakely; four great-grandchildren: Alex and Nicole Ferrier, Ada and Ryden Borregard; and sister-in-law Margaret Schwind. Besides his wife, Arland was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Blakely Borregard, three brothers: George (Betty) Blakely, James Blakely and Robert (Louise) Blakely; two sisters: Dorothy (Ken) David and Jean (Wilbur) Fanger; daughters-in-law Terrie (Moffett) Blakely, Christy (Hawes) Blakely; three sisters-in-law: Doris (Ed) Anaman, Peggy (Roy) Greif, and Maxine (Norman) Goschke; one brother-in-law Don Schwind; and three nieces: Debra Flewelling, Jennifer Johnson and Rose Fanger; and one nephew: James Blakely.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023 at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Ken David will officiate. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 12:00 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either The American Diabetes Association or The PM Foundation of Saginaw County.
