Our father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Toni and Trish House. Age 88 years.
The son of the late Andrew and Alice (Hyatt) Buckley was born April 25, 1934, in Hemlock, Michigan. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1952. On September 15, 1956, he married Eileen McCullen. She predeceased him October 27, 2011. Art retired from Dow Corning in 1991. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary’s Church, the Hemlock Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, Hemlock Volunteer Fire Department and various other community groups. He enjoyed camping, fishing and found a passion in woodworking which he always called “The Great Works of Art”.
Surviving are his sons, Patrick (Kelly) Buckley; Michael (Karyn) Buckley; James (Patricia) Buckley; Daniel (Diane) Buckley; Donald Buckley and his fiancée, Judy Sommer; thirty grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Jessie) Estrada; four brothers, Michael Buckley, Jerry (Bonnie) Buckley, Daniel (Sharyl) Buckley, Douglas (Vicki) Buckley; three brothers-in-law and their spouses; many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Arthur was predeceased by a son, Timothy Buckley, two daughters-in-law, Genise Buckley and Susan Buckley and a step-grandson, Jeremy Fawcett.
The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary in Hemlock Church. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Friends may visit with family from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Friends may then visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral liturgy. In Lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Holy Cross Children’s Services (Boysville), the Hemlock Volunteer Fire Department or the Toni and Trish House.
