Arthur J. Rick Sr.

Arthur J. "Art" Rick, Sr. of Hemlock, Michigan, Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle went home to the Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper with his family by his side. He was 71 years old. Arthur J. Rick was born on August 23, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Arthur and Sadie (Allen) Rick. He was a proud 1965 graduate of Hemlock High School. Following graduation, Art enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1967 to 1968. He met the love of his life, Bonnie Pasterz on a blind date on New Years Eve 1969. They were united in marriage on September 12, 1970 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock; she survives him. He worked and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Art was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and camping, especially in Greenville where he made many dear friends. Above all, Art loved and cherished his entire family and his dog, Peaches. He will forever be remembered for being an extraordinary family man, his wonderful sense of humor, his kind and gentle spirit and for giving the best hugs ever. Art was a blessing to all that loved him and a beacon of light to anyone that had the pleasure to know him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and soulmate of 47 years, Bonnie Rick of Hemlock; three sons and a daughter: Stephen (Julie) Rick, Dennis (Julayne) Rick, Sandy (Scott) Sherbino-Boyer, and Arthur (Julie) Rick Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Olivia, Ellen, Kyle, Ashley, Aaron (Roxanne), Kaitlyn, Jessica, Dave (Elisa), Kelsey, Kaylee, and Lucas; 2 great-grandchildren: Liam and Madison; his twin sister, Susan (Richard) Skuczas; and sisters- and brother-in-law: Sharon (William) Moeller and Margaret Pasterz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and lifelong friends, Ronald and Donna Martin. He was predeceased by his parents: Arthur and Sadie Rick; a brother-in-law, Michael Pasterz, Jr; A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd., Hemlock. Rev. Dr. William Morris will officiate. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Richland Township Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Navy and VFW Post 7302 Hemlock/Merrill. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at W.L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Arthur will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
