Arvin "Pete" R. Peterson

Peterson, Arvin R. "Pete" Hemlock, MI Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at the Cartwright Care Center at the age of 82. Pete was born March 5, 1932, in Hemlock to the late Axel and Hulda (Foerster) Peterson. He served in the U.S. Navy. Pete married Shirley Wheatley on February 19, 1955; she predeceased him August 21, 2006. He retired from Michigan Bell following many years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post #439, VFW Post #7302 in Hemlock/Merrill, and was a life member St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock and served as Chairman and Vice Chairman. Pete was a volunteer fireman for Richland Township. He is survived by his children, Terri (Len III) Kryska and Michael (Lee Ann) Peterson; grandchildren, Nicholas (Veronica) Peterson, Danielle (Keith) Launstein, Matthew Kryska, and Taylor Kryska; great-grandchildren, Ted Launstein, Brielle Launstein, Eva Peterson; brother-in-law, Gerald Basner; sisters-in-law, Frances (Herb) Pasch and Carol Wheatley. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mackenzie Lyn Kryska; siblings, Carolyn Basner, Marion Peterson, and Harold Peterson; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Wheatley. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church 2290 Pretzer Road in Hemlock. Rev Phil Bigelow will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of the V.F.W post 7302 Hemlock Merrill. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at W.L. Case & Company 201 N. Miller Road and again Saturday at church on 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
