Audrey J. Wenzel

Wenzel, Audrey J. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother and grandmother passed away late Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Cartwright Care Center. Age 83 years. Audrey Jean Barber was born August 24, 1929, in Rose City, Michigan, the daughter of the late Clyde and Neva (Slater) Barber. She graduated from West Branch High School and later graduated from the Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed by Saginaw General Hospital as Assistant Director of Nursing. She married Charles H. Wenzel on June 23, 1951; he predeceased her March 14, 2008. Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel were founding members of Ascension Lutheran Church. Mrs. Wenzel was an avid reader and also enjoyed spending time at the cottage at Houghton Lake and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Sue Wenzel, Frankenmuth, and Scott and Mary Wenzel, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Katie, Molly, Charlie, Michael, David and Matthew; several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, David Wenzel, and by a sister, Maxine Wangler. Funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Road. Pastor Gary Hansen will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 2:00 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and then at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
