Austin Robert Meyer of Beaverton, Michigan
Beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw. He was 22 years old. Austin Robert Meyer was born on April 9, 2002, in Henderson, Nevada, to David Charles and Linda Lou (McCoy) Meyer. Austin and Linda moved to Michigan to be closer to family. At the age of 13, Austin began working in the field of construction. In 2020, he proudly graduated high school through online learning and was currently employed as an independent contractor. When Austin turned 18 years old, he bought his own home with his own money, and by watching YouTube videos he taught himself how to fix, refinish, rebuild, and remodel his entire home. He had an excellent eye for detail, had an excellent work ethic, and loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Austin also enjoyed listening to all types of music and attending concerts with his friends. He held a special place in his heart for all animals, but loved his two desert tortoises, Speedy and Rosie, and his 20-year-old cat, Duke, as if they were his children. Austin was raised in the Lutheran Faith, a tradition passed on by his grandmother. Above all, he treasured and cherished spending time with his family, pets, and friends. He will forever be remembered for his quiet and shy spirit, for always being kind and selflessly helping anyone in need, for his hard work ethic, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his mother, Linda Lou Meyer of Beaverton; half-sister, Nicole (Nick) Higgs of UT; half-brother, Justin (Amber) Meyer of UT; grandfather, Robert Arlen McCoy of Hemlock; aunts and uncles: Karen (William) Martin of Traverse City; Donald (Lynn) McCoy of Hemlock; Bob (Jeannie) McCoy of Beaverton; Edward McCoy of St. Charles. Also surviving are many special cousins and dear friends/coworkers held close to his heart but too numerous to list.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Charles Meyer; grandmother, Helen Anne McCoy; a half-brother, Joshua Meyer; special cousins, Mike and Kandi McCoy; Ricky McCoy; Tim McCoy; and an honorary uncle, Milt Bowman.
Honoring Austin’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Gift of Life Michigan.
