Barbara Jean Glavanovich

Barbara "Barb" Jean Glavanovich of McBain, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was 86 years old. Barbara Jean Holmes was born on May 15, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Loren and Bernice (Swartout) Holmes. She was raised in Montrose, Michigan, where she attended Montrose Community Schools. Barb met the love of her life, Robert F. Glavanovich, while on a blind date at the Apple Orchard Bar. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 23, 1955, at St. Micheal Catholic Church in Maple Grove; he preceded her in death on April 23, 2004. Hardworking her entire life, Barb was employed in housekeeping with Sun Valley Manor Nursing Home in Bridgeport, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of her lifetime, and one she treasured and cherished, was to be the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Barb was a longtime and faithful member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. A gifted and talented crocheter, she made hundreds of blankets and lap blankets for family and friends. Barb enjoyed going to the casino with her friends, as well as playing cards, especially Euchre. Though she could be a little feisty, she will forever be remembered for her love and compassion for her family and friends, for her generosity to anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are a son, Robert A. (Robin) Glavanovich of Lake City; a daughter, Joyce (Terry) McIntosh of Montrose; seven grandchildren: Jenny Sears, Amanda (Ryan) Smith, Glavanovich, Justin Glavanovich, two great-grandchildren: Matthew Sears and Carson Smith. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Glavanovich; parents, Loren and Bernice Holmes; and a sister, Shirley Holmes.
