Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. She was 52 years old. Barbara Lyn Hertzberg was born on May 20, 1966 in Standish, Michigan to David B. and Marian K. (Schmidt) Hertzberg. She was a proud 1984 graduate of Standish High School. Following graduation, Barb attended Northeastern School of Business where she received an Associates Degree. She married the love of her life, Kevin James Gibbon on May 2, 1987; he survives her. Barb worked in accounts payable for the Dow Chemical Company and most recently for Xalt Energy. She was a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Barb enjoyed traveling, exercising and baking. Above all she loved spending time with her family, especially her 10 month old grandson, Emmett. She will forever be remembered for her compassion and selflessness, her love of giving to anyone and everyone, and for her indomitable spirit.
Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Kevin J. Gibbon of Hemlock; son, Eric (Sara) Gibbon of Columbus, OH; daughter, Courtney (Colton) Wiegand of Saginaw; grandson, Emmett Wiegand of Saginaw; parents, David and Marian Hertzberg of Standish, MI; two sisters, Beth Hertzberg of Standish, MI and Brooke (Tony) DAmbrosi of Troy; brother, Brian Hertzberg of North Platte, NE; mother-in-law, Yvonne Gibbon of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Linda (Bob) Louchart of Reese. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rudolph and Alma Schmidt and Robert and Edna Hertzberg; father-in-law, James Gibbon; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Gibbon.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N. Miller Road. Pastor Edward Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Barb will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathies may wish to consider memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church & Preschool or Teen Challenge of Saginaw. www.casefuneralhome.com
