Barbara Janet Shulhof, a beloved wife and mother, was born on February 26, 1935, in Toms Creek, Virginia. She passed away on February 7, 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy. Barbara graduated from Coeburn High School in Virginia, after which she ventured to Washington D.C. to work at the Pentagon. It was here that she met the love of her life, Dr. William P. Shulhof, with whom she united in marriage on July 10, 1955. They shared a deep connection until William's passing on August 8, 2006.
For many years, Barb and Bill traveled extensively throughout the Midwest, participating in antique shows and successfully owning and operating A Cut Above Antiques in Old Town Saginaw from 1989 to 2004. Through this business, Barb not only nurtured her passion for antiques but also fostered many friendships within the community.
Family gatherings, particularly during Christmas, held a special place in her heart. Barb’s children fondly recall the joy of these celebrations, especially the unique gifts that Bill would thoughtfully present to her each year.
Barb was a woman of diverse interests. She had a profound appreciation for classical music, was an avid reader, and exhibited her culinary talents as an excellent cook. Her recipes garnered recognition in the Saginaw News, showcasing her skill and love for creating delicious meals for her family and friends.
She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Debbie and Glenn Field, Nancy and Steve Connell, and Amy and Gene Coleman, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, George Benjamin Dingus and Cansie Missoura (Richardson) Dingus; four brothers, Lamar, Edwin, Norman, and Sterling Dingus; and one sister, Shirley Noel. She also leaves behind numerous other family and friends who will remember her warmth, kindness, and lively spirit.
Barbara Shulhof will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memories will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd.
