Barry Thomas Panko of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 4, 2024. He was 76 years old. Barry Thomas Panko was born on November 2, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Thomas T. and Edith E. (Barry) Panko. He was a proud graduate of Buena Vista High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United State Marine Corps where he served honorably for four years, working as a 50-caliber machine gunner on a land mine sweeping crew. Barry then enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served for four years, working as an electronic technician, jet air technician, and air search radar. While in the military, he met Dianna Maria Sanchez, they were united in marriage on March 5, 1985; she survives him. He briefly worked at the railroad for several years, but most of his professional life Barry worked as a truck driver for C. R. England, Carry Transport, and A & R Transport for the betterment of over 20 years. The role he loved the most, above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He held a special place in his heart for his yellow labrador retriever, Molly, whom he reminisced about fondly. Barry will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, for looking at the brighter side of things, for his kindness and generosity, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife, Dianna Panko of Bridgeport; three daughters: Jessica (Chad) Ursuy of Frankenmuth; twin daughters: Sarah Panko of Birch Run; Danielle Panko of Bridgeport; three grandchildren: Cooper Hagle of Birch Run; Addison Ursuy of Frankenmuth; and Andrew Ursuy of Frankenmuth; two brothers and one sister. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded by his parents, Thomas and Edith Panko; a brother, Woodrow Panko.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Elara Care Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Barry and the family.
