Benito “Ben” Sanchez of Saginaw
Age 82
Passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 13th, 2022. Born June 20th, 1939, in Thomaston, Texas, to the late Bendal & Elvira (Alverez) Sanchez, Ben attended Carrolton High School. After school, he proudly served in the Army from 1957-1960, and then worked for over 30 years in production for Steering Gear in Saginaw. While at Carrolton he met the love of his life, Mary Esquibel. The two married on April 17th, 1957, and spent 65 years raising a family together. Ever an optimist, Ben loved rooting for the Detroit Lions, and he loved to paint cars, spending his time teaching the art to young men in the area. He loved his family and enjoyed spending his time at family gatherings. Ben is remembered as being a fair and trusting man who never judged and always gave second chances. He never had limitations when it came to helping his family and he was a loving and kind man who will be deeply missed.
Ben is survived by children Cynthia (Michael) Hunter, Deborah (Joseph) Wright, Alex (Kimberly) Sanchez, Jeanette (Matthew) Swann, Julian (Anika) Sanchez, Benito (Tiara) Sanchez, & Anicia Sanchez; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; six siblings; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his daughter Brandy Sanchez; grandchildren Jesse Reyes & Nicholas Sanchez; and siblings Jesusa Gonzales, Guadalupe Sanchez, Evalina Jones, Antonio Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez, & Arturo Sanchez
A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, April 21th at St. Joseph Saginaw Parish, 910 N 6th Avenue, presided over by Father Frank Voris. Visitation is from 10:00am until the time of service. Cremation is to take place after. Those wanting to make a show of their sympathy may wish to make a contribution to St. Joseph Saginaw Parish.
