Bernadine Virginia Gross
Of Saginaw/Mt. Pleasant
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother on November 11, 2020. Age 87 years.
Bernadine was born on March 13, 1933, in Beal City, MI, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Smith) Gross. She started her life in healthcare at Hoyt Nursing Home. She then worked for several years as nurse at St. Mary’s and worked in home healthcare as well. Bernadine was a devout Catholic and had a strong faith which she passed on to her family. She often prayed the rosary, more so recently for her friends and family suffering from Covid. Bernadine enjoyed reading, puzzles, traveling, shopping, music, especially jazz and Motown, and watching her westerns which she called “shoot ‘em ups.” Above all else, she loved spending time with her family; holidays, bbqs in the summer, anytime that her family was all together.
Surviving are five children, Gonzalo Ramirez Jr., Yolanda (Daniel) Gonzalez, Frances (Juan) Gonzales, Jodi Friend (Gonzales), and Tish (Damian) Sanchez; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, a lifelong friend Josie Flores, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is predeceased by her parents, her step-father Ralph Muniz, daughter Jacqueline Ramirez, grandson Raymond Cuellar Jr., great-grandson Patrick, and two sisters, Frances Mena and Rena Frederico.
Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Church, 3680 S Washington Rd, Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. Gerry Pehler will officiate with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.
