Passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was 89 years of age.
Bernard Edward Yaklin was born November 28, 1927, in Maple Grove Township to the late Edward and Emma (Bitterman) Yaklin. He married Veronica Humpert on September 23, 1950, and she survives him. Bernard was employed by General Motors, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of service. He loved to visit the casino and enjoyed travelling, especially with his sisters and brothers. He cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his spouse, Bernard is survived by his seven children, Dwayne (Jody) Yaklin, Terry Yaklin, Debra Kabat, Dale Yaklin, Karen (Earl) Yaklin, Don (Treasa) Yaklin, and Janice Yaklin; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Church, 4735 W. Michigan Avenue. Rev. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate. Entombment will take place at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the W. L. Case Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
