Bernard "Barney" Czymbor

Czymbor, Bernard C. "Barney" Saginaw, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away on February 18, 2015, at Wynwood of Grand Blanc. Age 90 years. Barney was born December 12, 1924, in Saginaw, the son of the late Joseph and Rosalia (Javarowska) Czymbor. He graduated from SS Peter and Paul Catholic High School with the Class of 1943 and later attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He served with the US Coast Guard during World War II from 1943 until 1946, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate, Third Class. He had been employed by Jackson Church, Cardinal Products, Saginaw Air Supply, A. C. Klopf, and W. L. Case and Company. Barney had been a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Christ the Good Shepherd Parish (St. Helen Catholic Church) and was currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Blanc, MI. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4232. He was also a member of American Legion Post #439, Kochville V.F.W. Post #9808, the Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association, the U.S. Harveson DE 316 Group, the Pulaski Club and the Washington Society. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, and was an avid Detroit Tiger Fan. He married Shirley Wendling on October 7, 1950 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church; she predeceased him September 24, 1984. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia M. and Scott E. Villaire, Grand Blanc; Cathy A. and Gregory P. Hammis, Saginaw; four grandchildren, Justin (Sabrina) Villaire, Ashley Villaire, Nicholas Hammis and Ryan Hammis; great-grandchildren, Austin, Marissa and Cooper Villaire; many nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides his wife, Shirley, and his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Pauline Czymbor, and by five brothers and their spouses, Joseph (Magdalene "Maggie") Czymbor, Leo (Leona) Czymbor Sr., Anthony (Elinor) Czymbor, Frank (Ruth) Czymbor, Stanley (Chiarina) Czymbor, along with his dear friend and companion, Genevieve Frimberger. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, St. Helen Parish, 2445 N. Charles Street. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner and Rev. Fr. James Heller will officiate. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum, with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Barney's family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 3:00 8:00 p.m. on Sunday where a parish vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
