Berniece A. Slumka

Slumka, Berniece A. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Berniece was born June 18, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Frank and Alma (Sperling) Leddy. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1946. She had been employed as a baker by Saginaw Township Schools. Berniece married Joseph Slumka April 22, 1950; he predeceased her April 4, 2007. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Surviving are one daughter and three sons and their spouses, JoAnn (Tom) Villarreal, Edward (Dianne) Slumka, William (Marsha) Slumka and Ronald (Jill) Slumka, all of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Carrie, Sean, Kevin, Joey and David; one great-grandson, Levi; her sister, Frieda Tillman, her brother, Fred Leddy; several nieces and nephews. Berniece was predeceased by one sister and two brothers, Sarah Hogie, Don Leddy and Art Leddy. Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Peter Gaspeny will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., from 1:00 p.m. Sunday until time of service.
