Betty Amberger Peters went to live with our risen Lord two days after celebrating her 99th birthday at New Hope Valley Assisted Living of Saginaw. She was born in Saginaw on April 25, 1917, to the late Fanny and Ludwig Amberger. Betty married Howard R. Peters on April 4, 1940. He predeceased her on April 24, 2003. She leaves her family, which includes a daughter Amber (John) Holst and her son Gary (Jean) Peters. She enjoyed visiting with her three grandchildren Heidi Holst and Jack (Sarah Johnson) Holst, and Mark (Kathryn) Peters and her four great grandchildren Emma and Kate Leestma and Audrey and Charlotte Peters. She has five nephews: Dr. Todd Amberger and John, Jim, Jeff and Randall Peters and one brother, Raymond Amberger, who predeceased her.
Betty was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, The Germania, and the Saginaw Culture Club, all of Saginaw. She was also a former member of St. Armand's Lutheran Church; the Key Royal Club, the Artist Guild of Anna Maria Island, all in Florida. She enjoyed playing bridge with her card clubs and visiting with her many friends. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams, Saginaw, with Rev. Paul Hinz officiating. Friends may meet with family members at Peace Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. to the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot, Saginaw, with Reverend Bill Bodnar officiating. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or Saginaw's Old Town Christian Outreach Center in lieu of flowers.
