Betty I. Bailey

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 92 years. The daughter of the late Clyde and Vera (Gibson) Hawkins was born on January 30, 1927 in Cadillac, MI. She married Merritt D. Bailey in August of 1945; he predeceased her in August 1994. Betty was an active member of New Heart United Methodist Church. She enjoyed animals and loved music. Surviving are her children: Lorraine (Donald) Miller, Christine Ward, Rev. John (Karen) Bailey, seven grandchildren: Donald Miller, David Miller, Daniel Miller, Jeremy Ward, Stacy Bonn, Sarah Monroe, Aaron Bailey and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by her brother Clyde Hawkins and sister Mary Lamb. Besides her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by her siblings: Leon, Mike, Bill, Jean, Iris, and her son-in-law Dean Ward. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at the New Heart United Methodist Church, 1802 W. Michigan Ave. Pastor Melene Wilsey will officiate with burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
