Betty J. Stricklin
Bridgeport, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper, with her family at her side; at the age of 91 years.
The daughter of the late Louis and Alma (Livly) Grady, Betty was born on July 11, 1929 in Shrewsbury, West Virginia. She married George “Dave” Stricklin on May 6, 1953; he preceded her in death on July 26, 1996. Betty was a long-time member of Calvary Community Church. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading and traveling.
Surviving are two daughters, four sons and their spouses: Evelyn and Carl Medus, Duluth, GA; Larry and Wendi Morris, Oscoda, MI; Joe and Kathy Jo Morris, Saginaw; Richard and Heidi Stricklin, Fowlerville, MI; John and Brenda Stricklin, Bridgeport, MI; Sue and Tom Garrett, Sumter, SC. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides her husband and parents; Betty was preceded in death by five sisters: Masil Johnson; Sonia Hill; Patricia Lusher; Marjorie Frye; Mary Sue Akinson.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw. Rev. Ted Doolittle will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face covers are required, and social distancing is encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19 in our community. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
