Betty Jane Priest

Betty (Voelker) Priest entered the arms of Jesus on May 10, 2020. She was born July 10, 1924 in Brookfield Twp., Michigan to the late Jacob and Anna Voelker.

Betty worked for the State of Michigan Social Services Department for 20 years. She assisted in the Bridgeport Schools Headstart program and as a hospital volunteer for Covenant, Saginaw. Betty, a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, loved serving in many different venues including President of the Ladies Aid, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School program, and the Church Choir.

Betty’s love for her Lord and her unconditional love of family was an inspiration to many. She touched many hearts telling people she met, “Have a Blessed Day.”

Betty is survived by her four children; daughter Bonnie Priest: daughter Beverly (Jon) Stinson; son Charles (Mary) Priest; daughter Brenda (Gerald) Rohn; 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as her very special neighbors, Steve & Dorothy.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Jacob & Anna (Decker) Voelker; six sisters; four brothers and her former husband,Charles Priest.

There will be a private family showing (due to Covid-19) at W. L. Case and Company in Saginaw on May 14, 2020. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made at the celebration memorial to Dr. Charles Stanley, In Touch Ministries (one of Betty’s favorite TV ministries). The family would like to extend further gratitude to Heartland Hospice Care.
