Betty S. Buese Frankenmuth, Michigan
Went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the age of 103 years.
The daughter of the late William W. and Bessie D. (Jones) Southern was born on December 28, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio. She married Elmer G. Buese on August 19, 1938; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2016. She was a Ministers wife and was very active as head of bazaars and Deacon in the Presbyterian Faith. She went to Millikin University for art classes, but she preferred water colors and Flint Art Institute for pottery. Betty was a Girl Scout Leader for 35 years, Water Safety Instructor, taught with the Literacy Council and was an instructor with the public schools. She volunteered with the Blood Bank, was a representative of the American Red Cross, painted and built scenes and props for the community theatres. She enjoyed painting, making pottery, sewing clothes and made a special doll for her daughter. Memorable trips were taken to Alaska and Arizona. Betty was very active and lived a full life; dancing, white water rafting and canoeing even into her later years. Above all she loved the time spent being with her family.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Stahl of Long Beach, CA, Marcia Huff of Palmetto, FL; six grandchildren, Maria Dickey, Kenrick Niblick, Scott Niblick all of Florida, Melanie Hein of South Carolina, David Hein and Gaylion Hein of California; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Betty in death besides her husband of 78 years, are sons-in-law, Sid Stahl and Harold Huff.
In keeping with Bettys spirit her body was donated to science. A celebration of life for Betty will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Harmony Hall within Independence Village of Frankenmuth, 255 Mayer Road, Frankenmuth.
