Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Covenant Medical Center Cooper, with her family at her side; at the age of 75 years.
The daughter of the late Leonard J. and Grace E. (Koch) Schaumann, Bonnie was born on September 11, 1945 in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1963. She married the love of her life, Grant Thormeier, on March 30, 1965; he survives her. Bonnie was the manager and bartender at the Drift Inn for many years. She also was a waitress at the Big Boy, in Birch Run and bartender at the Red Horse. She loved english bulldogs; especially her adored Violet. Above all, Bonnie cherished the time spent with her family.
Surviving besides her husband of 56 years, Grant Thormeier; are their son and his wife: Grant, II and Kerry Thormeier; three grandchildren: Michael Thormeier, Grant Thormeier III, Montgomery Thormeier; her sister: Nancy Johnson; her niece and two nephews: Julie Kay Best, Freddie Englehart, Jeff Englehart Also surviving are many extended family members and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by a sister: Carol Engelhardt.
A funeral service will be announced at a later date, at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida, 33801. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, Lakeland, Florida. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
