Harrington, Brent Merrill, Michigan Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 28, 2019 at the age of 41 years. Brent was born on January 20, 1978 to Leonard Harrington and Janet (Waite) Herline in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Carman Ainsworth High School, class of 1996. Brent later married April May on August 26, 2017 in Merrill, she survives him. Brent was a member of the United States Navy for five years, honorably serving as a Seabee. He was an E- 5 Construction Electrician Second Class Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist. After graduating from boot camp as the Starboard Watch Section Leader he split most of his time stationed between Port Hueneme in Ventura, California and Guam. In Guam he was tasked with support and clean up from the KAL - 801 flight crash and Super Typhoon PAKA which featured wind gusts of 211 miles per hour. He was the first E-4 to receive the Seabee Combat Warfare Pin in NMCB- 40 where he served during conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Stabilization Force (SFOR). He also served as the M-60 gunner in his squad. Brent was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for Case Systems. Brent enjoyed riding his Harley, and teaching his wife how to ride. She was the force that drove him to do many things in life. Brent also enjoyed fishing and spending ample amounts of time with his son Keegan. He was known for being a jokester, a comedian and being the king of "one- liners". He could also be a "trouble-maker" when he was with his sister Theresa. She believes there was not a person he met who didnt believe they were automatically his best friend. Most of all Brent will be remembered as someone who was always kind enough to help anyone who was in need. He is survived by his wife April, his son Keegan and his daughter by choice, Kayla Lawler. Also surviving are his mother -in- law and father by choice Mark and Sondra Letavis and their children Matt Letavis, Ryan and Amanda Obert and their boys Mason, Caleb and Brooks. Brent is also survived by his sisters Theresa (Kris) Beeckman, Brandi Richards and Lisa Platko. Also surviving him are his nieces and nephews; Autumn and River Spedowski, Lance Richards, and Kassidy and Logan Masters. Brent is also survived by tons of friends that felt like family. Brent is preceded in death by his grandfather Herbert Morey and his sister- in- law Megan Letavis. A funeral service will take place on at 1:00 pm Thursday September 5, 2019 at W.L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Pastor Ed Emmerling will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Honoring his familys wishes, cremation will follow service. Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery where he will be honored for his service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to his son Keegan.
