In Memory of Bruce Brethauer
Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Bruce Brethauer passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was 73. Born on June 4, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan, Bruce was the son of the late Louis and Esther (Glumm) Brethauer.
A proud Spartan, he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and served his country with honor as a member of the National Guard. When thinking of Bruce, many will remember him in his trademark Members Only jacket, black Gibson T-shirt and jeans. Bruce found his greatest passion and expression through music, particularly rock & roll. He performed with his brothers, Brian and Barry, in various bands, including as lead guitarist and lead vocalist. Bruce also loved jamming out with his younger brother, Brent.
Beyond his musical talents, Bruce was a pillar of love and support for his daughter, Lisa, and grandchildren, Edie and Ashie. They were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed talking politics and baseball with his son-in-law, Amir. He is survived by them along with Brian, Barry (Patti), sister-in-law Chris and numerous nieces and nephews: Ryan, Kevin, Olivia, Alarik, Kirsten, Megan, Tricia (his favorite hair stylist) and Erik, who became a close friend in his final years. Bruce's passing was preceded by his parents and brothers, Brent and Billy.
May Bruce rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
