Otto, Bruce E. Saginaw County, Michigan Saginaw attorney, Bruce E. Otto, passed away on Monday, June 22, at the age of 91. He was born in Saginaw on January 25, 1924 to Herbert A. Otto and Mary B. (Gerber) Otto, being the youngest of eight children. He lived in the Saginaw area all his life. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific Theater where he participated in four campaigns earning five battle stars. He attended Bay City Jr College and the University of Michigan where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. Later he graduated with honors from the University of Detroit Law School with a juris doctorate degree. He was a partner in the family law firm of Otto and Otto, with his father, two brothers and his nephew and practiced law throughout mid-Michigan for over 50 years. He was a member of the Saginaw County Bar Association, Michigan State Bar Association and the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association. He served as president of the Saginaw County Bar Association in 1975. He married Patricia R. Cowles in 1947 and later Joan Canfield Galehouse who survives him. Bruce was an avid skeet and sporting clays shooter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had treasured memories of many trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. During his lifetime he had several beloved dogs and thoroughly loved the great outdoors and particularly his special place in the woods, Idle Acres, where he resided since 1974. Above all Bruce genuinely believed in God Almighty and in his Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed each new day to the fullest. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters Christine Young of Brookline, NH, and Anne Otto of Sault Ste Marie, MI; two sons Jason Otto of Tucson, AZ, and Brian Otto of Twin Peaks, CA; step daughter Amy Smith of St. Johns MI; and grandchildren Miles, Hunter and Georgia Morley; Abby and John Young; Logan and Carlie Smith. He was predeceased by brothers Gilbert and Howard and sisters Dorothy Boyer, Marion Williams, Charlotte Otto and Reverends Vivian and Grace Otto.
