Bruce D. Wade passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at age 91. The son of the late James Cecil and Mary (Scoles) Wade was born May 24, 1932, in Saginaw County. Bruce grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hemlock High School. Besides helping with farm work, he was employed by Dow Chemical Co., retiring with 35 years of service. He was a volunteer fireman for Richland Township and retired after 51 years of active service. He was also a lifelong member of the Eagles Club of Shields area 497, with the recognition of being a Golden Eagle. He was a member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Men’s Auxiliary and Honor Guard, being one of the past presidents. He was part owner of the Red Cap Hunting Camp in the U.P., where he enjoyed so much. He belonged to the Laporte Rifle and Sportsman Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his trips to Sugar Island every summer.
Bruce loved sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He enjoyed his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bruce leaves a family of three daughters, one son, one stepdaughter and their spouses Debra Curtis of Boca Raton, FL, Diane and Dr. Don Sheets of Northport, MI, Dawn and Jon Brandi of Findley, OH, Mark Wade of Houston, TX, and Barb and Jon Howel; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; five sisters Margaret Suppes, Mary Ellen Smith, Grace Chase, Pauline Richardson, and Agnes Myers; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
He is predeceased by his son Larry Wade Sr.; seven brothers, Clarence, Howard, Herbert, Eugene, Carl, William, and James Wade and two sisters Alice (William) Huey and Edith (Herbert) Hand.
Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
