Calvin M. Martin

Martin, Calvin M. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday evening, November 25, 2013, at his home, at the age of 100 years. He was born September 6, 1913, in Saginaw, the son of the late Mary L. (Dyer) and James J. Martin. He had been employed at Wolverine Gas and Valley Oxygen, and also at Bay Welding where he served as manager. He also worked as a barber in several barber shops in the Saginaw Area. Calvin was a long-time member of Community of Christ Church, where he had faithfully served as Deacon, Priest and Elder for many years. He was also a life member of the Salina Lodge #154, F. & A.M. He married Evelyn K. Brown on May 30, 1937; she predeceased him August 30, 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Clayton) Nolan; two grandsons, Steve Nolan (fiance Patty) and Britt (Debbie) Nolan; great-grandchildren, Jason, Tonya, Jenna (Jon), Jordan, Stephanie, Keath and Jeremy; two great-great-grandsons, Jason Jr. and Ronin; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elsie Martin, Estella (Gerald) Harris, Alice (Robert Sr.) Cramton; many nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Herbert and Eddie Martin, and by a sister, Marie Denno. The family extends special thanks to all the staff at Heartland Hospice and A & D Health Care for their kindness and care, and special thanks to his many caregivers, including Rhonda, Ruth, Hailey, Hope, Carmen, Liz, Sue and Jody. A memorial service will take place 2:00 P.m. Saturday April 26, 2014 at Community of Christ Church 300 N. Center Rd Saginaw, Michigan 48638. Elder Jack Ergo will officiate.Friends may call at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service.
