Camille Marek was born December 14, 1926 in Brookfield, IL. She is the daughter of the late Filip and Marie Kolouch, both from Czech Republic.
Growing up in Brookfield, IL, Camille took horseback and dressage lessons while attending Gregg Secretarial School. She moved with her husband and twin daughters (Karen & Lynn - miracle preemie babies!) to Saginaw Township in 1956 to build her dream home from plans she found the Home & Garden magazine.
After divorcing her husband in 1964, Camille dusted off her stenography pad and joined Kelly Girls and parlayed her secretarial skills into a job with a downtown Saginaw branch of Saginaw Steering Gear. Her organization and professional skills were recognized as she was promoted to Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Sales at the Saginaw Steering Gear Plant. In the mid-70's, Saginaw Steering Gear was looking for women who wanted to move into the male-only domain of Account Analyst.
Camille helped to break that glass ceiling by joining the material sales group. She was charged with keeping material flowing "just in time" to the plant assembly lines for multiple products. Camille retired after 25 years from Saginaw Steering Gear in 2000.
The First United Methodist Church was very welcoming to Camille and her family. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being active with the Women's Group.
Camille leaves behind her three daughters, Lynn Groske, Karen Miller, and Sarah Boyd, her grandchildren Rachael Miller and Jessica Schaefer, her great-grandchildren Matthew Schaefer and Joshua Schaefer, and her grand-niece Lauren Assi.
She joins her great-grand daughter Abigal Schaefer, sister Marjorie Hajek, niece Ellen Gullikson, and nephew Phillip Hajek.
Camille would like to share: "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27 In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Camille's favorite charities: Alzheimer's Association and First United Methodist Church, Gratiot, Saginaw.
