Passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Age 86 years.
Carl Eggebrecht was born February 23, 1929, in Merrill, Michigan to the late William and Lizzie (Moulton) Eggebrecht. He married Irene Adolf on August 9, 1952 and she predeceased him on November 7, 2008. As a young man, Carl spent most of his time helping his parents and five siblings with the livestock and crops on the family farm. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and earned the rank of 1st Sergeant. Carl was employed as a supervisor for 30 years by U.S. Graphite. He built three houses and raised five sons with his loving wife. Carl was known as a very handy individual who also helped many people over his lifetime. His favorite hobbies included working in his garden and tending to his 5-acre lawn on which he received many compliments.
Carl is survived by: his five sons, David (Kelli) Eggebrecht of Eastport, James (Kimberly) Eggebrecht of Hemlock, Jerrold Eggebrecht of Saginaw, Michael (Dawn) Eggebrecht of St. Joseph, and Paul (Amy) Eggebrecht of Detroit; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Christina Neuenfeldt and Linda Urbain. He was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth Schultz, Ella Pearl Jozwiak, and Lucille Eggebrecht; and a brother, William Eggebrecht.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 545 South 7th St., Freeland, Michigan. The Rev. Robert Schmidt will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
