Carol Ann Horning of Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Monday, September 7, 2020, on what would have been her 46th wedding anniversary. She was 80 years old. Carol Ann Baker was born on February 3, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late William and Frieda (Eurich) Baker. She married the love of her life, John Edward Horning on September 7, 1974; he preceded her in death on July 8, 2011. Throughout her life, Carol had a love and affinity for cats. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, Yahtzee, and watching classic Hollywood movies. Above all, she loved family gatherings, but her favorite activity of all was to go shopping. She will forever be remembered for her kind, caring, and selflessness to all she loved, including her devotion to her cats.
Surviving are seven children: Rose (Fred) Braley, John Coon, Robert Coon, Julie Curtis, Margaret (Joe) Clark, Cathy Coon, and Doug (Heidi) Coon; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Dick (Kathleen) Baker.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Gary and Brian Coon; and a brother, Kenny Baker.
A funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Rob Schmidt will officiate. Honoring Carol’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pursuant to the current state executive order, indoor building capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
