Carol Polzin
Saginaw, Michigan
Carol Ann Polzin passed away on January 24, 2022, at the age of 82 years, with her cousins at her side. She was born December 21, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan, and raised by her parents Clarence and Meletta (Chisholm) Polzin and was a lifelong resident of Saginaw. Carol was predeceased by her parents, her younger brother, William (Bill) Frank Polzin and ex-husband Gary Leidke. She was the eldest of 11 grandchildren of the late Frank J. and Emma (Eichstaedt) Polzin. Carol attended Saginaw Public Schools. Her future aunt (Bertha Ridgely Polzin) was her first-grade teacher in 1945 at the "new" Fuerbringer Elementary School. She was employed in personal family childcare for many years, she was a porter for Garber Buick, and worked at the Goodwill Store on Bay Road for 20 years. Her Goodwill family was important to her. Carol enjoyed being included in family events. She is survived by many cousins and their families. She had a kind heart and often bought toys for the children of her family and friends. Carol was a charter member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, having been confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her church family was very important to her and she received their care and assistance. In the past, Carol sang in the choir and played in the handbell choir. Pastor Michael and Mrs. Gloria Wilke led the church family's concern for Carol's care and wellbeing. Carol loved animals, especially horses, dogs, and birds. She was quite artistic relative to painting ceramics and pencil coloring countless pages in her coloring books. She delighted in showing her efforts to her visitors. She enjoyed fishing, especially at the family cottage at Wiggins Lake near Gladwin and even signed up for a Delta College Motorcycle Safety Class in 2000. Her friendly "just calling to see how you are" phone calls will be missed. She was truly a caring person.
Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3412 Crestmont Drive, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Rev.
