Carol Ann Fairchild

Carol Ann Fairchild of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mama, nana, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 6, 2023, after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was 69 years old. Carol Ann Fairchild was born on November 15, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Rodger Lee and Rosemary (Hickey) Lightfoot. She was a proud 1971 graduate of Carrollton High School. Carol met the love of her life, her sweetheart of 37 years, Adam David Fairchild, while playing on pool league in Bridgeport. They dated, fell madly in love, and were united in marriage on August 15, 1987; he survives her. Carol was the co-owner of the Sawmill Golf Club, as well as their food and beverage manager, for the past five years. Throughout her lifelong hospitality tenure, she befriended, mentored, and taught countless employees, loving them all like family. The role of her lifetime, and one she treasured and cherished, was to be the most loving, loyal, and dedicated wife, mother, and nana this world has ever seen. Anyone that knew Carol, understood that family was at the core of her being, it was her everything. She loved all family gatherings, especially Christmas, and spending time spoiling her grandchildren. An excellent cook, Carol used "love" as the secret ingredient to create amazing family dinners. Her little piece of heaven was spending time on her back patio, tending to her flower garden, fishing on Norway Lake, and traveling to her favorite places Traverse City and Florida with her family and special groups of friends. She left her indelible mark in this world through her selflessness to anyone in need, for her kind, caring, and giving heart, for her quick wit, bravery, and indomitable spirit, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Adam Fairchild of Saginaw; a son, Jeremy Smith of Saginaw; a daughter, Teresa Gerhardt of Brighton; a granddaughter and four grandson's: Autumn Sears Smith and her special friend, Ethan McArthur, Max Smith, Ethan Gerhardt, Pierson Gerhardt, and Kameron Nurmohamed; two brothers: Mark (Lori) Lightfoot; Paul (Julie) Lightfoot; father- and mother-in-law: Jerry and Sharon Fairchild; two brothers-in-law: Micah (Missy) Fairchild and Dan (Bobbi) Fairchild; two sisters-in-law: Leah (Chad) Huff and Jenny Schuller. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Smith; parents, Rodger and Rosemary Lightfoot. Honoring Carol's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Sawmill Golf Club, 19 Sawmill Blvd, Saginaw, Michigan, 48603.
